FC Dallas Announces 2021 Preseason Schedule
March 1, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS) - FC Dallas News Release
FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas players return to Toyota Soccer Center on Wednesday, March 3 in preparation for the upcoming 2021 MLS season that is slated to begin on April 17, 2021. FC Dallas' preseason schedule includes friendlies against two USL Championship teams: OKC Energy FC and Austin Bold FC.
Prior to FC Dallas' voluntary training sessions beginning on March 3, players began reporting on Feb. 22 to begin a non-mandatory league-required seven-day quarantine period before player physicals. Players who completed their quarantine had the opportunity to participate in voluntary player workouts or group training sessions provided that each player had conducted medical exams and testing.
The team will hold an intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday, March 13 before hosting OKC Energy on Saturday, March 20 on AdvoCare Field 1 and Austin Bold FC on Wednesday, March 24 at Toyota Stadium. Any additional preseason matches will be communicated at a later date.
Due to health and safety protocols, media access to the training facilities continues to be prohibited. All training sessions and friendlies will be closed to the public and media per MLS policy. The FC Dallas Media and Communications team will provide b-roll, soundbites and imagery on the MLS Imagen Media Asset Platform.
FC Dallas' 2021 MLS SuperDraft picks Nicky Hernandez, Colin Shutler and Thibaut Jacquel will join the team for preseason training while Mark Salas and Giovanni Montesdeoca will continue to compete for University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill before reporting to the club in late May.
The league's 26th season kicks off on Saturday, April 17. More information about FC Dallas season' opener, schedule and media credentials will be released at a later date.
