FC Cincinnati News Release

CINCINNATI - Frankie Amaya is one of 31 players to be called up by U.S. Under-23 Men's National Team head coach Jason Kreis for a training camp in Guadalajara, Mexico. The camp is being held in preparation for the Concacaf Men's Olympic Qualifying Championship. The final 20-player tournament roster to be selected from the pool of 31 players will be announced in March.

The USA kicks off Olympic qualifying Thursday, March 18 vs. Costa Rica at 5 p.m. ET, faces the Dominican Republic on Sunday, March 21 at 7 p.m. ET and wraps up the group stage vs. Mexico on Wednesday, March 24 at 9:30 p.m. ET. All three U.S. group stage games will be broadcast on FS1 and TUDN.

Amaya, 20, made a club-high 21 appearances, all starts, and scored his first professional goal for the Orange and Blue last season. Through two seasons, the No. 1 overall selection in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft has made 40 career appearances and has logged just shy of 3,000 career minutes in MLS regular-season matches.

The Santa Ana, Calif., native has previously competed for U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team. The midfielder made his U-20 debut in an international friendly against France on March 21, 2018. Furthermore, he was named to the U-20 USMNT roster for the 2018 CONCACAF U-20 Championship. In that competition, Amaya made seven appearances, including five starts, as the United States went on to defeat Mexico, 2-0, in the final.
