Trenton Titans News Release
Trenton, NJ - The Trenton Titans, proud ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, defeated the Orlando Solar Bears, 6-1, Sunday afternoon at the Sun National Bank Center, behind two-goal games from Mike Ullrich and Bryan Haczyk. Jacob Cepis added 4 assists, while Brooks Ostgergard (3-0 in three Titans starts) stopped 21 for the win.
The Titans (26-29-4-4, 60 points) scored three times in the first 5:01 of regulation, getting goals from Mike Ullrich at 0:19, Bryan Haczyk at 3:25, and Andrew Johnston at 5:01. Trenton outshot Orlando (26-30-3-3, 58 points) 17-6 in the first period.
The Titans next tally would come at 11:32 of the second, when Haczyk connected on a one-timer that went through the five-hole of Orlando goaltender Zoltan Hetenyi (7-8-0-2, 36 saves). For Haczyk it was his second goal of the game and 15th of the season. The goal was assisted by Andy Bohmbach (2nd assist of the game) and Shane Harper. It would give the Titans a four goal lead going into the third period. Trenton again outshot Orlando in the frame, 17-6.
Mike Ullrich scored his second of the game and 11th of the season just 24 seconds into the final period. Ostergard's shutout bid was ended at 4:51, after Justin Levac found the net after a perfect feed from C. J. Severyn. Eric Baier responded to Orlando's goal with one of his own - a rip from the high slot at 10:04 - after another great feed by Cepis. Hetenyi was pulled afterwards and swapped with Patrick Killeen (8-10-3-3, 5 saves) who went on to finish the game.
Both Trenton's and Orlando's power plays were unsuccessful, going 0-3 and 0-2, respectively. This was the third and final game between the Titans and Solar Bears this season, with the Titans taking the season series, 2-1, winning both at home.
The next game for the Titans will be back at the Sun National Bank Center on March 15 at 7:05 pm, to take on the Cincinnati Cyclones. The Titans' five-game homestand wraps up on Sunday the 17th with the final meeting in Trenton against Atlantic Division foe Elmira at 3:05 pm.
