Orlando Solar Bears News Release
Trenton, NJ - Trenton got out to an early 3-0 and never looked back as the Solar Bears fell 6-1 to Trenton at the Sun National Bank Center on Sunday afternoon.
Right off the bat in the first period, Trenton was able to capitalize on an early goal. F Mike Ullrich took a pass at the bottom of the right circle and snapped a shot under the crossbar 19 seconds into the game to take a 1-0 lead. They expanded their lead to 2-0 just over 3:00 later when a shot from the point was stopped by G Zoltan Hetenyi but the rebound was thrown towards the front of the net by F Bryan Haczyk and it bounced off the skates of a Solar Bears defenseman and into the net. Less than two minutes later, at 5:01 of the first, F Andrew Johnston increased the lead to 3-0 when a bouncing puck landed on his stick and fired it home. It was the final goal of the opening period as Trenton took the 3-0 lead into the intermission.
Halfway through the second period, the Titans struck once more. Haczyck took a pass from F Andy Bohmbach and one-timed a shot into the cage for the lone goal of the second stanza. Trenton held their 4-0 advantage after a full 40 minutes of action.
Another early goal kicked off the final frame when Ullrich scored in the first 30 seconds for the second time in the game. F Jacob Cepis found Ullrich in the attacking zone, and he fired a shot past Hetenyi for his second of the day. Orlando found a way to strike back at 4:19 of the frame, as D Corbin Baldwin moved a pass from behind the net to F Justin Levac on top of the crease. Levac quickly wristed the puck into the top left corner to put Orlando on the board. The Titans would add a final goal at 10:04 of the period when D Eric Baier fired a slap shot into the top corner of the net for the final goal of the contest and granting the Titans a 6-1 victory.
