San Francisco Bulls News Release
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Peter Sivak and Tristan King scored late goals in the second period to propel the San Francisco Bulls (22-34-1-6) to a 4-1 victory over the visiting Las Vegas Wranglers (31-27-2-3), Sunday afternoon at the Cow Palace. Yanni Gourde picked up three points (1 goal, 2 assists), and Taylor Nelson was impressive in goal making 16 saves. The win got the Bulls back on track, extending their lead over Bakersfield to eight points for the eighth seed.
The Wranglers took an early 1-0 lead at 6:56 of the first period courtesy of a fortuitous bounce. Andrew Sarauer's shot hit the post, bounced off of Nelson, and into the net. Sarauer's 20th goal of the season was unassisted. Christian Ouellet equalized the game for the Bulls with 5:33 remaining in the first period on the power play. San Francisco was on a four-on-three power play, but right after the teams went to the conventional five-on-four Ouellet shoveled the puck past Mitch O'Keefe for his 14th goal of the season. Gourde and Sivak assisted on the goal.
San Francisco took a 2-1 lead late in the second period after a fantastic play by Sivak. The Slovakian carried the puck down the right wing, stick-handled around O'Keefe, and slammed the puck into the net with O'Keefe having no chance to make a save. Sivak's 29th goal of the season was assisted by Gourde and Nick Walsh. The Bulls added another goal with nine seconds remaining in the period. King scored a goal that was almost a replica of the goal Sivak scored earlier in the period. King maneuvered around the defender and snuck a shot through the five-hole of O'Keefe. Bryan Cameron and Dean Ouellet assisted on King's 21st goal of the season.
Gourde put the game out of reach in the third period with his fourth goal of the season. After a pass from C. Ouellet, Gourde sped down the wing and lifted the puck over the shoulder of O'Keefe. Gourde's goal with 7:36 remaining in the third period gave the Bulls a 4-1 lead.
The Bulls travel to Stockton on Wednesday, March 13 to take on the Thunder. The game begins at 7:00 pm. Follow along on KNBR.com and AmericaOneSports.com.
