LAST REGULAR-SEASON MEETING: 34-30 win, Sept. 7, 2003, Winnipeg vs. Toronto @ Canad Inns Stadium... the Winnipeg Blue Bombers won their 5th-straight game, amassing big rushing yardage on offence and scoring a touchdown on defence to improve their record to 9-3 on the season... the Blue Bombers ran very effectively against the Boatmen, pounding the Argo defensive line 38 times for 264 yards and two scores on the ground... runningback Charles Roberts led the way with 136 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries... fullback Mike Sellers ran well in this game, totaling 70 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries, with seven of those carries producing first downs... quarterback Khari Jones also got in on the run parade, gaining his season high of 58 yards on seven carries â three for first downs... kicker Troy Westwood launched seven punts for 319 yards and a 45.6-yard average, was perfect on field goals (2-for-2) and converts (4-for-4)... his biggest contribution of the game came on a kickoff, when he drilled a low liner off the noodle of an unsuspecting Ray Mariuz... Brian Clark recovered the fumble for Winnipeg in front of a stunned Mariuz... on the very next play, Jones connected with LaDaris Vann for a 65-yard score that put the game out of reach...
LAST MEETING AT SITE: 24-14 loss, July 15, 2003, Winnipeg @ Toronto @ SkyDome... the Winnipeg Blue Bombers failed to become the third Blue & Gold side to start a season 5-0 in the club's 73-year history, thanks to an extremely disappointing performance against an injured, subpar Toronto Argonauts squad... the Argos â a very talented side when healthy â were missing six starters because of injury, five of which were at key offensive positions... the Boatmen were also playing on a short schedule with little rest between games... quarterback Khari Jones easily had the most disappointing game of his stellar career, throwing five interceptions... the Blue Bombers defence, with the exception of two blown coverages, was superb... they held Toronto to only six first downs â the lowest total in the Dave Ritchie Era... the Argonauts only held the ball for 21:20 â again, the lowest for any opponent in the Dave Ritchie Era...
