(Calgary) – The Calgary Stampeders are pleased to announce that at halftime on Saturday, August 21st vs the B.C. Lions the two newest members of the Stampeder Alumni Wall of Fame will be inducted. This year's inductees are long-time builders Rogers Lehew and Stan Schwartz. To date there have been 26 Stampeder Alumni inductees, 19 players and 7 builders. The Stampeder Alumni Wall of Fame inductions were first introduced in 1985.

Here is a closer look at this year inductees:

ROGERS LEHEW

Builder 1960-1974

Was the architect of great Stampeder teams of the 1960s and early 1970s that won the West three times and played in the 1968, 1970 and 1971 Grey Cup games. The Stampeders would win one of those games, defeating the Toronto Argonauts by a score of 14-11 in 1971 at Empire Stadium, Vancouver. With the Carswell Air Force Base team in 1951-1952, he was then an assistant coach at the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma 1953-1959. Joined the Stampeders as assistant general manager and assistant coach from 1960-64. Rogers was both G.M. of the Stampeders and manager of McMahon Stadium for the McMahon Stadium Society from 1965-74. He then went to the NFL, where he was vice-president and assistant general manager of the Detroit Lions 1974-78. He worked in the oil patch in Calgary 1978-1997 before retiring. Lehew may be remembered most for adding the white horse to the Stampeders helmet, and starting the tradition in 1966 of the galloping horse down the sidelines after touchdowns. He also initiated the President's Ring Award which is a Stampeder annual award given to the most inspirational player on and off the field voted upon by his teammates.

STAN SCHWARTZ

Builder 1976-1983, 1995-2003

Schwartz spent 17 seasons with the Stampeder organization in various capacities. Schwartz joined the Stampeders as an assistant coach in 1976, working for eight years with special teams, defensive secondary, receivers and linebackers. He left coaching in 1984 to concentrate on the management of McMahon Stadium. The highlight of his tenure with the Stadium was his involvement with the highly successful opening and closing ceremonies of 1988 Winter Olympics. Stan rejoined the Stampeders in 1995 as Vice-President and G.M. of Administration. He was then elevated to President on Feb. 12, 1996, where he directed business operations of the team and acted as Calgary's representative at all CFL Board of Governors meetings. During his reign, the Stampeders won Grey Cups in 1998 and 2001.
