Ottawa Renegades News Release
OTTAWA â The Ottawa Renegades are throwing a party Friday night, and everyone is invited.
The launch of the 2004 Kickin' It In The Capital Grey Cup Festival Week will officially begin this Friday night, August 20 at Ottawa City Hall (Festival Plaza) beginning at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend the free event open to all. Renegades players will be on hand, as will the Molson Canadian Light Dance Team. Fans will be able to take part in the Renegades football toss, help the Kick It Krew boot an official Grey Cup ball and get an opportunity to be up close and personal with the real Grey Cup.
"This is a great opportunity for everybody to take part in our countdown to Grey Cup," says Ottawa Renegades president Brad Watters. "We are excited for our festival week and are looking forward to hosting our fans for this fun, free event on Friday night."
The launch party will offer an opportunity for the public to pick up a complete listing of the festival schedule and to get a head start on purchasing tickets for many of the special, committee-run events. Tickets for the Great Big Canadian Evening, the Rogers CFLPA Players Awards and the Rockin' In the Capital Parties will all be on sale.
Friday night's event will also be an opportunity for those wanting to be involved with the Grey Cup to register for the event. About 2,000 volunteers will help make the 2004 Grey Cup week a success and Friday night will be an ideal opportunity for interested parties to register.
The 92nd Grey Cup Game will be held on Sunday, November 21 at Frank Clair Stadium in Ottawa. The Renegades are honoured to host Canada's premiere sporting festival and event. As an organization, the Renegades hope to put on a show that will be regarded as one of the best Grey Cup festivals ever. In Ottawa, the Kickin' it in the Capital Grey Cup Festival begins on Wednesday, November 17, featuring celebration events at various locales throughout the city, leading up to the game.
