Calgary Stampeders News Release

(Calgary) – Today Calgary Stampeder players Wes Lysack, Jeff Pilon, Nik Lewis and Sulecio Sanford are teaming up with Cops for Kids to assist Bantam Stampeders in their own training camp. Stampeder players will be running through drills with the kids and discussing the steps that they took to become a pro athlete. The Bantam Stampeders are sponsored by Cops for Kids, which is a mentorship program with the Calgary Police Service. The camp is from 6-8pm at Jack Setters Field, 18 Street and 69th Ave SE.

On Tuesday August 17, 1:45pm (on the riverwalk at 10th street and memorial drive). Stampeder Linebacker George White will have the opportunity to meet children associated with the Children's Wish Foundation. The Children's Wish Foundation is dedicated to fulfilling a favourite wish for children afflicted with a high risk life threatening illness. White and the kids are meeting to prepare for The Country Mile run/walk fundraiser taking place on Wednesday August 18th, 6pm at the Country Hills Running Room. A supporter of the Children's Wish Foundation, White will be attending the run, meeting participants and signing autographs to help raise awareness and increase funding for the foundation.

"I am honoured to be associated with an organization that is committed to bringing joy and happiness to seriously ill children", says White. George White has implemented his own program to help the children. For every Special Teams Tackle that #38 makes this 2004 season, a sponsor will donate $100 to the Children's Wish Foundation. These funds will go directly to granting a Wish for a child and their family in the Calgary area.

The Stampeders next home game is this Saturday, August 21st vs the B.C. Lions. Tickets can be purchased through the Stampeder Main Ticket Office (289-0258), Super Drug Mart and Safeway.
