Chiu, Johnson, Kellett named players of the week

Montreal, August 17, 2004 – Bryan Chiu, Kevin Johnson and Matt Kellett were respectively named the Canadian Football League's Lineman, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week today, following the Alouettes' eighth win in nine games this season.

All-Star centre Chiu helped quarterback Anthony Calvillo to surpass the 300-yards passing mark for the seventh time this season against the Toronto Argonauts.

The East Division's Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2003, linebacker Johnson recorded seven total tackles, one interception and tipped one pass into teammate Davis Sanchez's hands for an interception against the Argos. He is tied for first on the team with 32 tackles and has recorded seven special teams tackles, two interceptions and one sack. He currently leads the CFL with three fumble recoveries including one he returned 34-yards for a touchdown.

Kicker/punter Kellett completed four field goals (11, 23, 16, 21), nine punts for 331 net yards and four kickoffs for 236 yards against Toronto. He ranks first in the CFL with 109 kicking points. He also ranks first in the CFL in kickoffs with 50 for 2,886 yards.
