Falcons Rally Back to Beat Gulls 5-2

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons came back from a 2-0 deficit to score five unanswered goals, defeating the San Diego Gulls 5-2 in front of a Friday night crowd of 5,158 at Save Mart Center.

The Gulls started out ahead when Scott Borders ricocheted a goal off Fresno goaltender Brett Jaeger at 4:05 in the first period. In the second period, San Diego increased their lead to two at 7:45 when Sean O'Connor scored with assists by Grady Moore and David Karpa.

Midway through the second period, the Falcons started rolling and never looked back. The Falcons scored their first goal of the night at14:31 when Matt O'Dette hammered home a rebound to shrink the Gulls' lead to one.

As soon as play resumed, the Falcons were put on their fourth power play of the night. Within 1:05 of O'Dette's goal, the Falcons scored again, this time by David Brisson who beat San Diego goaltender Mathieu Chouinard from the left circle to score his 14th goal of the season.

The Falcons continued their scoring streak and took their first lead of the night at 8:39 in the third period. Jason Weaver passed the puck back to Simon Mangos who then fired a wrist shot past Chouinard to move Fresno ahead 3-2.

The Falcons were not done yet. Fresno scored two more goals in the final five minutes of the game, finalizing the score at 5-2. Derek Krestanovich executed on a pass from Shaun Sutter at 15:45, and Terry Marchant scored his first goal for the Falcons on a power play at 17:48.

The Falcons' next home game is Saturday, March 12, at Save Mart Center against the Bakersfield Condors and is Bobblehead Giveaway Night. The first 2,500 fans to show up to the game will receive a John Wroblewski Bobblehead.
