Louisiana IceGators News Release

Estero, FL. - Playing their 3rd consecutive game against the Florida Everblades, the Louisiana IceGators allowed three 2nd period goals as Florida skated away with a 4-1 win.

The Everblades took a 1-0 lead through the 1st period as Florida capitalized on another power play opportunity. At 4:59, Ryan Brindley took what appeared to be a harmless wrist shot from beyond the right circle. The puck hit Nathan Marsters in the blocker, rolled over his arm and landed beyond the goal line. Brindley's 7th goal of the season was assisted by Damian Surma and Reggie Berg. Florida has 7 power play goals in 5 games against the Gators in 2004-05.

As has been the trend all season, the 2nd period continued to be a problem for Louisiana. Florida scored 3 more goals, to take a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes. Greg Hornby (2) at 2:07 banked one from the right side boards off the skate of Marsters for a 2-0 Florida lead. A Surma (26) breakaway goal at 6:02 made it 3-0 and ended Nathan Martsters' night. Kyle Kettles came into the net in relief and was greeted by a Berg (14) rebound goal at 9:09.

The Gators would not allow Tyler MacKay to get his 2nd shut out of the season. With 3:57 left to play, Max Fortunus lit the lamp from the left point for his 7th of the year. Roger Leonard receiving the only assist on the Gators power play goal at 16:07. With the loss, Louisiana's record is now 19-30-6, 44 points and 5th place in the South. The Gators have gone 5 games in a row without a win. The Gators were outshot by Florida 36-26. Power plays were 1-2 for the Gators and 1-1 for the Blades.

The IceGators next game is tomorrow afternoon at 5:05pm CST when the Gators wrap up their 4 game set with the Everblades. The game will be available on 960am "The Gator", on the internet at www.icegators.com and a videocast is available through the B2 Network and the team website.
