Falcons Lose Leading Goal Scorer to Season-ending Injury
April 3, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release
FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno Falcons forward J.F. Plourde suffered a fractured C4 vertebra during last night's 2-1 overtime loss to the Stockton Thunder. Plourde suffered no nerve damage and the injury does not require surgery. Although he will miss the remainder of the season, he is expected to make a full recovery.
"First and foremost our thoughts and prayers go out to J.F. and his family," said Falcons head coach and general manager Matt Thomas. "He's a huge part of our hockey club and his absence will be difficult to overcome, but ultimately we're just relieved that he's going to be okay. J.F. is in very good spirits and we wish him nothing but the fullest recovery."
Plourde's 30 goals lead the Falcons and his 65 points were second most on the team. He was having a break-out year in his third pro campaign, having surpassed his previous career high by 25 points.
The Falcons close-out the regular season this week with three games at Save Mart Center beginning tomorrow at 7 p.m. when they host the Alaska Aces. The game is a Carl's Jr. Two-for-Tuesday with two-for-one coupons available at participating Carl's Jr. locations.
Individual tickets are on sale now for tomorrow's game at all Ticketmaster outlets and Save Mart Center's box office with prices ranging from $8 - $22.
