THE WEEK AHEAD

Friday, April 7th Inferno vs. Charlotte Checkers 7:30pm Carolina Coliseum

This is the last game between the Inferno and Charlotte. The Inferno is 4-3-2 against the Checkers this season. Charlotte is in fifth place in the South Division with 69 points (32-33-5).

Saturday, April 8th Inferno vs. South Carolina Stingrays 7:30pm Carolina Coliseum

The Stingrays are in fourth place in the South Division with 76 points (31-24-14). This is the last regular season game for the Inferno. Columbia is 3-6-0 this season against the Stingrays.

LAST WEEK Friday, March 31st INFERNO 5 Greenville 1

Jeff Miles contributes three points and goaltender Mike Brown records his first win as the Inferno out hustle the Grrrowl 5-1. Miles scored his seventh goal in an Inferno jersey at 9:51 of the first period on the power play with assists to F.P. Guenette and Derek Eastman. Grant Jacobsen gave the Inferno a 2-0 lead at 18:10 with help from Miles and Guenette to end the first period. Mike Stathopoulos scored shorthanded at 17:02 of the second period as the Inferno take a 3-0 lead. Chuck Tomes nets his first professional goal at 2:10 of the third period. Greenville scored their only goal at 5:03 by Tyler Mosienko. Chris Busby added the second shorthanded goal of the night at 11:14 as he beat a Greenville defenseman with passes from Miles and Dallas Flaman. Greenville outshot the Inferno 33 - 24. Columbia went 1-for-3 on the power play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.

Saturday, April 1st Inferno 1 PENSACOLA 6

On Saturday night, Pensacola went up 5-0 before the Travis Lisabeth nets his 18th goal of the season at 11:34 of the third period with an assist to Mike Stathopoulos. That was the only scoring for Columbia. Mike Brown was in goal stopping 33 of 39 shots on goal.

Sunday, April 2nd INFERNO 4 Pensacola 3

In the 4-3 win on Sunday, Pensacola took a 2-0 lead by the beginning of the second period. Mike Stathopoulos scored his 26th goal of the season at 10:47 of the second period from Craig Lazaruk and Chris Barr. Derek Eastman ties the game at two with a top shelf shot that went over the goalies shoulder at 18:02. Jeff Miles scored at 10:22 of the third period to give the Inferno a 3-2 lead. Dallas Flaman added a shorthanded empty net goal at 18:52 as Columbia gets a 4-2 lead. With seven seconds left, Pensacola scored on a power play goal by Rankin, his second of the night. Chris Houle stopped 36 of 39 shots on goal for the Inferno.
