Steelheads weekly update
April 3, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release
BOISE, Idaho - It hasn't been all play and no work for the Idaho Steelheads during its spring break trip to Southern California - the team has notched seven out of a possible eight points and, in doing so, has registered its best regular season record (42-21-8, 92 points) since joining the ECHL in 2003-04.
With one game remaining in the season, the team is 8-1-1 in its last ten games, and 3-0-1 on this, its final road trip.
In addition, Steelheads captain D'Arcy McConvey has taken over the league lead in points (86) and goals (39). He is one of only seven players to have scored two hat tricks this season and has tallied 22 points (12g-10a) in his last ten games.
The Steelheads may not know who their first round Kelly Cup playoff opponent will be until April 8th, when Las Vegas and Alaska each play their final games of the season. The two top teams in the league, the Wranglers and Aces, have been neck-and-neck coming down the stretch as they do battle for first place. Idaho, the West Division's third seed, will open the playoffs with two games on the second seed's ice and return to Qwest Arena for games 3 and 4 in the best-of-seven semifinal series.
