LAST WEEK'S RESULTS (home team in caps)
Game #68 (3/29/06) JOHNSTOWN 3 -TRENTON 4 Cey 27 saves
The Johnstown Chiefs raced to a 2-0 lead on first period goals by Justin Kelly and Jon Hedberg, but were not able to hold the lead. Dennis Packard took a high sticking penalty with twelve seconds remaining, and Trenton tied the game six seconds later as Garret Stroshein backhanded a Jim Henkel rebound past Morgan Cey. The Titans had all five shots in overtime, but could not beat Cey, until the shoot-out. The Chiefs point clinched fourth place and home ice advantage for the three game play-in series with the Titans, beginning on April 10.
Game #69 (3/31/06) Johnstown 5 - DAYTON 2 Disher 42 saves
Josh Disher stopped 42 of 44 shots for his first professional win, as the Johnstown Chiefs rolled to a 5-2 win in Dayton. Disher was nearly unbeatable, stopping several point blank chances, including a Paul Kelly breakaway and subsequent rebound attempt. Jean Desrochers lead the Chiefs with two goals, including the game winner, and one assist. Desrochers' linemate, Dennis Packard added three assists, while Justin Kelly added a goal and a helper. John Toffey scored his sixth of the year, and Dmitri Tarabrin potted number 20 on the season. The win snapped the Chiefs five game winless slide and extended Dayton's winless streak to 16.
Game #70 (4/1/06) WHEELING 5 - Johnstown 2 Cey 30 saves
With a shortened Chiefs bench and a suddenly longer Nailers roster, the Chiefs found themselves in a 4-0 hole by the 15-minute mark of the second period. Arpad Mihaly scored a pair of goals and added two assists to lead the Nailers to a 5-2 win. The tallies gave Mihaly eight goals and eight assists in six games since returning from Wilkes-Barre of the AHL. Andre Deveaux deflected a Brad Sullivan shot from the point for the Chiefs first marker. Jean Desrochers scored with 2:35 remaining, to pull the Chiefs within two, but Johnstown could not seize the momentum for additional scores. The Chiefs fell to 3-8-1 against Wheeling this season.
