
Falcons Host Bruins Tonight

The Springfield Falcons and Providence Bruins will meet for the seventh time this season, including the third meeting between these two clubs at the MassMutual Center. The Falcons are 1-5-0-0 against the Bruins this season with Providence winning both games in Springfield.
The Falcons enter tonight's game having defeated the Portland Pirates in overtime Friday night, 4-3, at the Cumberland County Civic Center. Jason Jaspers scored his team leading 18th and 19th goals of the season, including the game-winner in the extra session to lift the Falcons to their second win over the Pirates this year. After the two teams exchanged first period goals, including Chris Dingman's fifth marker as a member of the Falcons, Springfield quickly erased a 3-1 deficit in the third period when Jaspers converted on the power play 44-seconds into the final period, followed by Timo Helbling's game-tying tally at 17:49 of the third period. Rookie goaltender Jonathan Boutin made 21 saves in collecting his first American Hockey League victory. Springfield returns home tonight for back-to-back home games, including a rematch against the Pirates on Sunday. The Falcons currently have a record of 17-22-2-4 good for 40 points in the Atlantic Division standings.
The Bruins head into tonight's action having defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 4-1, last night at the Dunkin Donuts Center. Providence's Jeremy Reich scored his fifth goal of the season just 40-seconds into the first period setting the tone for the night for Providence. The Bruins built a 3-0 lead by midway through the second period when Tyler Redenbach scored his 12th marker of the season late in the opening period, followed by Ben Walter's eighth tally of the year midway through the second period. Goaltender Jordan Sigalet made 20 saves earning the game's second star of the night. Providence has currently won five of their last seven games and they have a record of 24-17-1-1 good for 50 points in the Atlantic Division standings.
VETERAN PRESENCE: Falcons veteran forward Chris Dingman was the game's second star last night in Portland scoring his fifth goal of the season, while adding two assists. Dingman was reassigned to the Falcons on December 31 and in 11 games with Springfield, Dingman has five goals and three assists for eight points. Dingman was a member of the 2004 Tampa Bay Lightning Stanley Cup Championship team and is a veteran of 366 National Hockey League games and 148 American Hockey League contests.
CLUTCH PERFORMANCE: Falcons center Jason Jaspers scored his team leading 18th and 19th goals of the season last night, including the game-winner in overtime. Jaspers leads the Falcons in scoring this season with 42 points in 44 games played and also leads Springfield in power play goals this year with 10. The native of Thunder Bay, Ontario is in his fifth season of professional hockey and has played in 295 career AHL games.
NEW FACE IN THE LINEUP: Prior to Friday's game, the Falcons announced that forward Travis Brigley has been reassigned to Springfield by the New York Islanders. Springfield also announced that
they have loaned defenseman Harlan Pratt to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Brigley has appeared in 39 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers this season collecting seven goals and 10 assists for 17 points and 28 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of Coronation, Alberta is in his eighth season of professional hockey and has appeared in 430 career AHL games collecting 107 goals, 143 assists, 250 points and 267 penalty minutes. Brigley reached the 20-goal plateau in back-to-back seasons when he recorded 22 goals while with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks during the 2001-02 season, followed by a 21-goal season splitting time between Cincinnati and Hershey during the 2002-03 campaign.
GETTING IT DONE: Providence center Ben Guite is currently ranked fourth on the team in scoring this season with 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points in 40 games. Guite has collected a point in five of his last his last seven games played collecting two goals and six assists for eight points in that span. Guite is in his sixth season of professional hockey and has already set a new career high for goals in a season with 14, and has tied his career high for points in a season. Guite played his college hockey with the University of Maine from 1996-00 collecting 96 points in 146 career games.
