Milwaukee, WI-Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has claimed forward Simon Gamache (see-MOHN ga-MAHSH) on waivers from the St. Louis Blues and assigned him to the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.
Gamache, 25 (1/3/81), opened the 2005-06 season with Nashville and appeared in 11 NHL games before being claimed on waivers by St. Louis on November 29. In 15 games with the Blues, the Thetford Mines, Quebec native registered three goals, four assists (3g-4a-7pts) and 10 penalty minutes. He has also posted four points (1g-3a) in five games with Milwaukee during an eight-day AHL conditioning assignment (November 20-28).
The 5-10, 180-pound forward was named a First Team AHL All-Star in 2004-05 after leading the Milwaukee Admirals and ranking fifth in the AHL in scoring (29g-57a-86pts). Gamache also led the Admirals in goals, assists and power-play goals (16) and tied for first with six game-winning
goals. Originally acquired by Nashville from Atlanta with Kirill Safronov for Ben Simon and Tomas Kloucek on Dec. 2, 2001, he has notched nine points (4g-5a) in 37 career NHL games with Atlanta, Nashville and St. Louis.
Gamache was also a member of the Admirals 2004 Calder Cup Championship team and finished second in the league in playoff scoring that year with 24 points, behind only teammate Darren Haydar.
The Admirals are in action tonight as they take on the Cleveland Barons at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. The next Admirals home game is Friday, February 3 at 7:00 pm versus the Grand Rapids Griffins. The first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive a Roscoe bobble-head, courtesy of US Bank.
