Syracuse Crunch News Release
Syracuse, NY (January 28, 2006) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that defenseman Aaron Johnson has formed a new program called âJohnny's Juniors'.
Crunch defenseman Aaron Johnson developed this program to help bring a smile to the face of area children, allowing them to enjoy a professional hockey game. Through the Johnny's Juniors program, twenty (20) tickets to each Crunch home game beginning Saturday, January 14 will be donated to area non-profit organizations, in addition each child will receive a Crunch puck and autographed 8X10 photo of Aaron Johnson.
Due to the significant response and number of requests the Crunch has already received regarding this program, guidelines and criteria have been established as to how deserving organizations will be selected. These guidelines are in place to assure fairness, professionalism and to maximize the support the Crunch Foundation can provide the greater Syracuse community. To apply to become part of the Johnny's Juniors program, please contact the Crunch office at (315) 473-4444.
In keeping with the American Hockey League tradition of community involvement, the Syracuse Crunch have made a conscious effort to become an integral part of the Central New York community since the club's commencement. To achieve this, the club established the Crunch Foundation in 1994 to serve the community and their fans as a grant-making public charity.
The mission of the Foundation states: "The Syracuse Crunch Foundation will utilize the unique talents of it's professional athletes, coaches and staff to improve the quality of life throughout the community by dedicating time, resources, and financial support to organizations committed to meeting the educational, cultural, health and wellness needs of its citizens."
Since the club's beginning, the Syracuse Crunch have been committed to helping meet the needs of the community it represents as well as providing exceptional sports entertainment. The programs of the Crunch Foundation have touched thousands through the variety of educational projects, special events, and initiatives. The success of these programs are due to the cooperation of ownership, management, players and wives, front office staff and the generous contributions of the team's partners. The Crunch is proud to be a part of Syracuse and Central New York and to be able to give something back to their community.
