Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release
LONG BEACH, Calif. - T.J. Trevelyan scored his second and third goals of the season, but it wasn't enough, as the Fresno Falcons beat the Ice Dogs 6-3 on Sunday night at the Long Beach Arena.
Trevelyan got the the Ice Dogs on the board first, scoring a shorthanded goal at 5:28 into the opening period. Jeff Mason's pass out of his zone sent Trevelyan in on the breakaway and beat Fresno goaltender Scott Stirling shortside post to give the Dogs an early lead.
Fresno evened the score at one, as John Wroblewski redirected a feed from Colin Shields that beat Ice Dog netminder Weber down low for his second goal of the season.
McFeeters and Prudden gave the Falcons a two goal lead before Alex Kim scored his third goal of the season on the powerplay as Kim came out of a scrum on the near boards, skated around three defenders and beat Stirling with a blazing wrist shot over his shoulder at 15:06 of the second period.
The Ice Dogs were outscored 3-1 in the third period as Trevelyan scored again on a breakaway chance as he took the feed from David Walker. Vince Macri ended the game with an empty net shorthanded goal at 19:05 and that was all she wrote.
