
Curtin Powers Falcons Past Ice Dogs 6-3

Long Beach, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons ended their first road trip of the season on Sunday with a 6-3 win over the Long Beach Ice Dogs. With the win, the Falcons improve to 26-0-7 in their last 33 games against division foes.
Long Beach struck first, scoring a shorthanded goal 5:28 into the opening period. T.J. Trevelyan took a pass from Jeff Mason, got behind the Falcons defense, and slid a shot past Scott Stirling on the near post for his second goal of the season.
Fresno drew even at 15:16. Colin Shields fed a pass into the slot that was redirected past goaltender Jeff Weber by John Wroblewski, who tallied his second goal of the season.
The Falcons took their first lead of the night just 1:57 into the second period. Rob McFeeters took a centering pass at the hash marks and beat Weber with a wrist shot for his second goal of the season.
Josh Prudden added to the Fresno lead with a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 6:01. Prudden skated out from the corner and jammed a shot through Weber's five-hole for his first goal in a Falcons' sweater.
The Ice Dogs pulled back within one with a power-play goal at 15:39. Alex Kim gathered in the puck on the near boards, and skated to the slot, beating Stirling top shelf with a wrist shot, cutting the Fresno lead to 3-2 heading into the third period.
Fresno regained its two-goal advantage 5:54 into the third period. Brady Leisenring took a pass from Curtin and blistered a wrist shot past Weber from the left-wing circle for his second goal of the season.
Long Beach came right back one minute later to pull back within one. David Walker's pass settled on Trevelyan's stick behind the Falcons defense, and for the second time on the night, Trevelyan beat Stirling on the breakaway attempt to make it a 4-3 game.
Fresno retook the two-goal lead with its second power-play goal of the night at 16:04. Curtin earned his fourth point of the game, beating Weber with a blistering slap shot from the top of the right-wing circle.
Vince Macri set the final with a shorthanded, empty-net goal with 55.9 seconds left.
