Don't Fret: Colton Fretter posted four goals for the Gladiators in Sunday's 6-3 win at South Carolina. He became the fourth Gladiator to post four goals in a game joining Kevin Doell, who accomplished the feat twice, Pascal Pelletier and Guillaume Desbiens. Fretter now leads the Gladiators in goals with six on the season.

At the Top of the Pack: Brad Schell collected three assists in Sunday's 6-3 win over South Carolina to move into the top spot in scoring in the ECHL with 14 points. Schell entered the week with 7 points and added 4 points in the Gladiators win over South Carolina on Friday night.

The League Leaders! Four players on the Gladiators have moved into the top seven in scoring in the ECHL. Brad Schell leads the league with 14 points while Colton Fretter moved into a tie for the fourth spot as his four goal performance on Sunday gave him 9 points, the same number of points as forward Jeff Campbell. Jon Awe shares seventh in the league in scoring with 8 points on the year.

A Shutout: Dan Turple made 24 saves for the Gladiators to record his first professional shutout in a 4-0 win over the Columbia Inferno on Saturday night. Turple's shutout was the Gladiators first of the season and the fourth shutout of the season in the ECHL. Turple posted 7 shutouts last season with the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL while he had 3 shutouts during the 2004-05 season in the OHL. Gwinnett finished the 2005-06 season with four shutouts.

A team high: The Gladiators tied a team record with 8 goals on Friday night at South Carolina in an 8-3 win over the Stingrays. It was the fifth time in Gladiators history that they have posted 8 goals in a win. The last time the Gladiators collected 8 goals was in an 8-1 win at Charlotte on March 22, 2006. Up to Chicago: Roswell, Georgia, native Dave Caruso became the first Gladiator to be called up this season. Caruso was called up on Saturday and was in the line up for the Chicago Wolves in their loss against the Iowa Stars that night. The netminder is 2-0-0 in two starts this season with Gwinnett while posting a .932 saves percentage.

Hanging Around: The Gladiators will be giving away an 11-month wall calendar to the first 2,000 fans on November 4th when the Gladiators host the Texas Wildcatters on the Your Best Rate Financial Home Ice at the Arena at Gwinnett Center at 7:35 p.m. Camping Time RV, Medieval Times, The BellSouth Yellow Pages and the Gwinnett Daily Post are sponsoring the calendar giveaway.

October 27, 2006 - Gwinnett 8, South Carolina 3 - W

The Gladiators posted a team record 8 goals in the win. Gwinnett jumped out to a 3-0 lead on three power play goals early in the first period by Mike Vigilante, Brad Schell and Jon Awe. South Carolina got on the board before the end of the period but Gwinnett added three more in the second. Vigilante, with his second of the game, and Andy Contois and Jeff Campbell each had a marker in the period as South Carolina could only muster one in the middle stanza. Gwinnett chipped in two more with Joel Stepp collecting his first of the season and Colton Fretter adding his second of the year. South Carolina had a goal in the third but it was not enough to get by the Gladiators. Dave Caruso made 31 saves for his second win of the season for Gwinnett.

October 28, 2006 - Gwinnett 4, Columbia 0 - W

Dan Turple made 24 saves for the Gladiators for his first professional shutout and the first shutout of the season for Gwinnett. Blue Bennefield posted the first two goals of the game, which were his first markers of the season. Scott Mifsud had three points in the win for the Gladiators while Jon Awe had two helpers for Gwinnett. Andy Contois and Matt York hooked up for the final goal of the game for Gwinnett in the second period. Gwinnett went 2-for-8 on the power play in the win.

October 29, 2006 - Gwinnett 6, South Carolina 3 - W

Colton Fretter had the first hat trick of the season for the Gladiators and finished with 4 goals for Gwinnett in the win. Turple collected his second win of the season for the Gladiators has he made 26 saves for Gwinnett. Chad Painchaud posted his first professional goal in the win while Jon Awe also had a marker for the Gladiators. Brad Schell finished with three assists while Scott Mifsud and Jeff Campbell each has a pair of helpers for Gwinnett.

Friday, November 3rd, @ Charlotte Checkers, 7:35 p.m. - wdun.com

The Gladiators face the Checkers for the first time this season. It marks the first of nine meetings against Charlotte this year. Gwinnett went 8-0-1 last year against Charlotte and is 17-4-3 all time against the Checkers entering this season since relocating to Gwinnett from Mobile.

Saturday, November 4th, vs. Texas Wildcatters, 7:35 p.m. - wdun.com

Texas returns to the ECHL after suspending operations last year due to the devastation of Hurricanes Rita and Katrina in the Gulf Coast region. Gwinnett faces Texas for the first time since a 5-2 win against the Wildcatters on March 5, 2005. Gwinnett is 5-0-0 all time against the Wildcatters entering this year as the two teams square off eight times this season.
