Falcons Beat Sharks 4-1

The Springfield Falcons used a very strong third period scoring two markers in the final frame on their way to a 4-1 win over the Worcester Sharks in front of 3,847 at the MassMutual Center on Saturday night. The Falcons maintain a three point lead over Manchester for fourth place in the Atlantic Division, while extending their lead to eight points over sixth-place Worcester.

The Falcons took a 2-1 lead into the third period before Ben Simon tallied at 1:40 of the final frame extending Springfield's lead to 3-1. Springfield built a 4-1 advantage at 7:35 of the third period when Colin McDonald's slap shot found the back of the net giving Springfield command of the game at 4-1.

The Falcons built an early 2-0 lead when Viacheslav Trukhno extended his scoring streak to seven games with his 11th marker of the campaign at 4:55 of the first period, followed by Stephane Goulet scoring at 11:10 of the opening frame.

Worcester cut their deficit to 2-1 at 10:35 of the second period when Dennis Packard tallied his eighth goal of the year.
