Round Rock Express News Release
(ALBUQUERQUE, NM) - Round Rock and Albuquerque starters Brandon Duckworth and Jeff Fulchino had a pretty good pitchers battle going, tied at three apiece going into the top of the sixth inning in Albuquerque on Sunday evening.
Then, for the first time in the four game set, the Albuquerque Isotopes got a little of its own medicine.
The Express sent twelve to the plate, eight scored on seven hits in that fateful sixth inning. Six Round Rock hitters drove in runs. Mike Coolbaugh's second homer of the night, a three-run blast over the left field wall, was the big blow of the inning. And when the inning was over, the Express led 11-3.
Round Rock added a solo run on an RBI single by Barry Wesson to make it 12-3 in the eighth inning.
But in the light air of Isotopes Park, the Albuquerque ball club can never be counted out. They picked up a couple of unearned runs of reliever Mike Gallo in the eighth, and 3B Jason Wood greeted reliever Kevin Hodge with a solo blast leading off the ninth inning, and the final was 12-6 Express.
Duckworth picked up his first win for Round Rock. Isotopes starter Jeff Fulchino took his sixth loss on the season.
The E-Train opens an eight game home stand on Monday, June 13 against the Memphis RedBirds. Ezequiel Astacio pitches for Round Rock against Memphis righty Anthony Reyes.
