Esteban German singled home Jason Conti with two out in the 10th inning Sunday night to give the RedHawks a 7-6 win over New Orleans in the series finale, as the RedHawks salvaged one win in the four-game series. The RedHawks begin an eight-game homestand Monday night at 7:05 p.m. CDT against the Omaha Royals.
Oklahoma, now 37-27, has the best record in the league and a three-game lead over Albuquerque in the American South.
Jose Veras (1-3) earned the win by pitching the final 2 2/3 innings in relief. Roy Corcoran (2-4) allowed a two-out hit batsman, walk and single by German in the 10th inning to take the loss.
Each team hit three solo home runs. Ian Kinsler, Jason Botts and Gerald Laird went deep for Oklahoma, Botts and Laird consecutively in the seventh to take a 6-4 lead. New Orleans tied the game with two out in the eighth to force extra innings. The RedHawks are 3-4 in extra-inning games and 6-10 in one-run decisions.
The RedHawks are now 10-0 on Sunday and 11-6 in the last game of a series.
Oklahoma out-hit New Orleans 11-10 and won despite going 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position. Josh Rupe earned a quality start by going 6 2/3 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) including two solo homers by Juan Melo and another by Hector Ortiz.
Lefty Ryan Snare will make a spot start Monday, due to face Omaha's Shawn Camp.
