Explorers Take Home Finale 4-2

Sioux City...The Sioux City Explorers closed out the home season with a 4-2 victory Wednesday over Sioux Falls.

In winning the season series 11-8, the Explorers moved into a two-way tie for fourth place in the American Association North with the Canaries.

After Sioux Falls tied the game at 1-1 in the third inning, the Explorers took the lead 3-1 with two runs in the fifth inning. A RBI double by Boomer Berry and a run scoring single by Dustin Jones gave the Explorers the lead.

The Explorers made it 4-1 in the sixth when Greg Stevens led off with a double and Nick McCoola drove him home with a single. McCoola was the only Explorer in the lineup with two hits.

Ty Marotz started and pitched seven innings to record his sixth win of the year and Brett Reid pitched the ninth to secure his 17th save of the season.

The Explorers have four games remaining starting Thursday with a four-game series at St. Paul.
