Lightning strikes thrice for Wingnuts

Wichita, KS- Greg Porter hit his 20th home run of the season with one out in the bottom of the 10th, giving the Wingnuts a 5-4 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs on Wednesday at Lawrence Dumont Stadium - their third straight extra inning win.

Wichita jumped on Lincoln starter Jarrett Gardner, scoring three runs with two outs in the first inning. Stephen Pearson had the big hit, knocking in two runs with a triple. Lincoln got one back in the second and tied the game in the third on a two-run home run by Phil Hawke. The Saltdogs took their first lead in the fifth, scoring an unearned run, before the Wingnuts re-tied the game at 4-4 in the seventh on an RBI single by Brenan Herrera.

Starter Gabe Medina pitched seven innings for the Wingnuts, followed by two scoreless innings from Diego Soto and a scoreless 10th by Doug Hurn, who earned the victory. Porter led the Wingnuts, going 3-5 with two runs. After sweeping the series, wichita now trails Lincoln by just a half game for first place in the North Division. The Wingnuts will wrap up the regular season this weekend with three games versus the Grand Prairie Air Hogs.
