Sioux City Explorers News Release

Sioux City.....The Sioux City Explorers snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 9-4 win over St. Paul Friday at Lewis and Clark Park.

The victory for the X's came after an hour and five minute delay after five innings because of lightning and rain.

Behind the excellent pitching of starter and winner Ryan Harris and timely hitting by the Explorers combined to stop St. Paul's winning streak at five games.

Harris, in his first start with the Explorers, went seven and two-third innings and scattered six hits in the win.

James Boone led the Explorers offensively with three hits, including two doubles while Nick McCoola, Alex Llanos and Justin Nelson all had two hits each.

The Explorers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a RBI single by Llanos, one of three RBI's for the X's second baseman. In the second inning, the Explorers took advantage of the wildness of St. Paul starter Mark Moriarty and scored four runs on just two hits. Moriarty walked three and hit two batters in the second inning.

The Explorers and St. Paul will meet in the second game of the three-game series Saturday at 7:05.
