Explorers Shut Out Gary 5-0

Gary, IN-----The Sioux City Explorers snapped a six-game losing streak with a 5-0 win over Gary SouthShore here Thursday.

Richard Salazar pitched seven innings of two-hit ball in recording his fifth win of the season as he did not allow a RailCat base runner to reach third base. In the win, Salazar struck out six and walked only one.

The Explorers took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a two-run home run by Luke Murton, his third home run of the season.

Sioux City had 11 hits in the victory with Austin Gallagher getting three hits and Murton and Yusuke Inoguchi having two hits apiece.

The loss stopped Gary's winning streak a four games.

The Explorers will now begin a three-game series Friday at Fargo against the North Division RedHawks. After the three games in Fargo, the Explorers will return home Monday at Lewis and Clark Park against Gary SouthShore.
