Sioux City Explorers News Release
The Sioux City Explorers announced today that they are involved with a project to bring a portion of an independent film production to Lewis and Clark Park.
The Explorers have partnered with Standard 17 to be a part of their film, High and Outside: A Baseball Noir. The producers, some of the actors, and crew will be at Lewis and Clark Park to film the on-location portions of the film on August 2 and 3, 2013.
High and Outside: A Baseball Noir, is a hard hitting drama about a man chasing his dream to play professional baseball and the real life trials he must go through to achieve that goal. It is a no holds barred look at the life of a man desperate to cling to a dream and what he will do to get there.
The Sioux City Explorers partnered with Standard 17 last year and agreed to have the team represented in the project. "The player in the movie will actually be playing for the Sioux City Explorers, not a made up team just using our field," said team president, Matt Adamski. "We saw this as a unique opportunity for us to gain some exposure outside of our day to day environment."
The shooting schedule will be tight in that the members of the cast and crew coming to town will only be here one weekend. They will be putting together the footage they need during the games on Friday, August 2, and Saturday, August 3, as the Explorers take on the Lincoln Saltdogs at Lewis and Clark Park.
The actors that will be in town for this engagement are: Ernie Hudson, best known for his work in Ghostbusters and the HBO series Oz, playing the team's manager; and the lead actor, Phil Donlon, recently in the movie, Queen of the Lot.
Anyone interested in seeing how the scenes of a movie get shot, or for the chance to possibly see themselves in a movie as the camera pans across the fans in the stadium should take advantage of this opportunity to see it happening right in Sioux City.
To get tickets for this rare opportunity and to book Your 9 Innings of Vacation, call (712) 277-WINS or stop down at the box office at Lewis and Clark Park.
