EVERETT, Wash. - Patrick Bajkov scored a goal, added a pair of assists and the Everett Silvertips pounded the Vancouver Giants for three goals in the second period for a 3-2 victory before 5,208 fans at XFINITY Arena on Saturday.

By winning their third in a row, the Silvertips (8-4-0-1, 17 points) kept pace behind the Seattle Thunderbirds, four points off the U.S. Division leads (Everett has four games in hand). The Silvertips busted a power play drought of three games, scoring on both chances while limiting Vancouver's man advantage to an 0-of-2 clip. Matt Fonteyne added a goal and an assist, while Carter Hart turned in a 31 save effort.

Following a scoreless first period, Josh Thrower's hooking penalty proved costly with the Silvertips starting the second period on the power play. Graham Miller capitalized on a wrister from the right circle, set up by Patrick Bajkov and Noah Juulsen just 58 seconds in for a 1-0 lead.

Ben Thomas scored his first of two goals in a Giants sweater at 5:41, for a 1-1 tie when his wrister from top of the right circle fooled Hart's glove. Fonteyne restored the Silvertips lead, 2-1 at 7:14 with a dazzling backhanded finish, set up by Bajkov on Fonteyne's drive to the net. Dmitry Osipov was whistled for checking from behind on the next shift, and the Silvertips made Vancouver pay again.

Juulsen and Carson Stadnyk worked the puck along the perimeter and Stadnyk threaded a perfect backdoor pass to Bajkov at the left circle, beating Daniel Wapple at the glove side for a 3-1 cushion and capping two goals just 59 seconds apart.

But Thomas got Vancouver back in the game at 3-2, coming at 11:53 on his second goal of the game, a wrister from the blueline that seared through traffic and snuck past Hart's glove.

The Silvertips worked the clock in the first half of the third period but required one last spectacular save by Hart to keep their lead, a diving stop at Hart's blocker side to deny Thomas a bid for his hat trick. Vancouver failed to score after pulling Wapple for a sixth attacker.

Wapple, making his second consecutive start following a trade from Regina, made 25 saves.
