Everblades Grind out 4-2 Win Over Cyclones

CINCINNATI, OH - The Florida Everblades (28-22-3) rode a pair of third period goals by Ethan Graham and 38 saves by goaltender Jaroslav Janus to a 4-2 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones (19-20-8) on Wednesday night at US Bank Arena.

The opening 20 minutes saw both teams get clumps of good pressure. The Cyclones opening he game by out-shooting the Everblades 4-0 in the first couple minutes, but saw the period end with the Everblades getting some good chances during a late 5-on-3 power play. When the dust settled the game was scoreless entering the first intermission with Cincinnati edging Florida 7-6 in shots.

In the second period the Everblades opened the game's scoring when Matt Beca picked up a rebound off the pads of Cyclones goalie Chet Pickard at the top of the crease and lifted home his 12th goal of the season at 6:10. The play began with Alex Hutchings bringing the puck into the offensive zone before dropping it off for Francis Lemieux in the left circle. From there Lemieux threw a shot on net that led to the rebound chance for Beca.

Cincinnati however responded to tie the score at one at the 10:18 mark when Chris Minella banged home his 10th goal of the year to complete a 2-on-1 rush with the assist going to Ryan Del Monte.

Overall through the middle 20 minutes the Cyclones peppered Janus out-shooting Florida 19-7.

In the third period Graham stepped up to help push the Everblades to the victory first by breaking the 1-1 tie with a slap shot from left side of the ice midway between the top of the circle and the blue line at 7:19. The goal came off a face off win by Lemieux and finished with Graham's slap shot sail through traffic and into the upper right corner of the net.

Four minutes later the Cyclones again battled back to even the score, this time on a shot by T.J. Fast from the middle of the ice at the blue line that deflected past Janus at 11:19.

With the score tied at two, the Everblades grabbed the lead for good while on their fourth power play of the night. Graham tallied the eventual game-winner after Pickard stopped a shot from Ross Carlson, but couldn't control the rebound. The puck landed in the crease at the right post where Graham slammed home his fourth goal of the season at 13:40. Lawson notched his second assist of the night on the play.

The Everblades hung onto the lead from there as Cincinnati clawed at the net with a power play coming in the final minutes. It was during that power play however that the Everblades gained some breathing room when Lemieux picked up his 27th goal of the year by firing the puck from the Everblades zone into the empty Cincinnati net for the team's 12th short-handed marker of the season.

Janus picked up the win in his first game back after a three week call-up to the American Hockey League to improve to 9-10-0). Pickard suffered the loss, falling to 6-11-2 after allowing three goals on 22 shots.

The win improved the Everblades' record to 3-2-1 vs. Cincinnati and pushed their record to an impressive 10-1-0 in games on Wednesday night's.
