
Salmon Kings Sign Ed Snetsinger

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that they have signed defenseman Ed Snetsinger for the remainder of the 2010-11 season.
The 24-year-old blue liner joins the Salmon Kings after appearing in 19 games with the Florida Everblades, where he recorded one assist and 10 minutes in penalties. Prior to his time in Florida, Snetsinger began the 2010-11 campaign with the Utah Grizzlies where he played in two games recording one assist and 18 penalty minutes. The defenseman then signed in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) with the Augusta RiverHawks, registering 12 points (4g-8a) across13 contests with 12 minutes in penalties.
For his professional career, Snetsinger has appeared in 34 contests, notching 14 points (4g-10a) while accruing 40 penalty minutes.
The native of Ajax, Ontario enjoyed a four year career (2006-07 thru 2009-10) at school with the University of Toronto Varsity Blues prior to turning professional. In 107 career games at the school he tallied 25 goals and 76 assists for 101 points while serving 120 penalty minutes. During his career with the Varsity Blues, Snetsinger was awarded the school's Dr. William A. Dafoe Most Valuable Player trophy (2008-09), Best Defenseman award (2007-08 and 2008-09) and Rookie of the Year trophy (2006-07). Snetsinger was also named to two Ontario University Athletics (OUA) First Team All-Stars and one Second Team All-Star while at school.
The 6-0, 189 lb Snetsinger began his junior hockey career with two seasons (2004-05 and 2005-06) of junior hockey in the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League (OPJHL) between the Oshawa Legionaires, Pickering Panthers, and Huntsville Otters. In 62 games he totalled 30 points (7g-23a) and 149 minutes in penalties. In his final season in the OPJHL, split between Pickering and Huntsville, Snetsinger recorded 14 points (3g-11a) and 58 penalty minutes in 30 games.
The Salmon Kings will now embark on a six game road trip with the first two coming against the Las Vegas Wranglers. Game one is Friday February 11th at 7:05 pm, while game two is Sunday February 14th at 2:05 pm. Both games will be played at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
