Royals Loan Defenseman Jared Ross to Peoria

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that defenseman Jared Ross has been loaned by the Royals to the Peoria Rivermen of the AHL. In a separate transaction, goaltender Daren Machesney has been loaned to the Worcester Sharks of the AHL.

For Ross, a second year pro from Stoney Island, Nova Scotia, this marks his first stint of the year in the AHL. Last season, he played forty-eight games in the American League with the Providence Bruins. This year he leads Reading defenders with nineteen points (5g-14a) in thirty-eight games. This marks the second trip of the year for Machesney to Worcester. A fifth year pro from Lambeth, Ontario, Machesney was loaned to Worcester on February 4 and returned to Reading yesterday. He has not yet appeared in any game action for the Sharks. Machesney, who is yet to play for the Royals, has compiled an overall record of 2-12-0-0 with a 4.41 and a .865 save percentage in fifteen ECHL games this year with the Victoria Salmon Kings and Elmira Jackals.

The Royals return to action on Friday (February 11, 2011 @ 7:05 pm), when the team will travel to Cambria County War Memorial Arena in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to take on the Wheeling Nailers.
