Jackals Doubled up by Wranglers, 6-3

Las Vegas, Nev. - The Elmira Jackals (20-20-5-0) fell behind 5-1 in the second period and lost 6-3 to the Las Vegas Wranglers (30-14-2-1) on Tuesday night at Orleans Arena. With the win, the Wranglers took the season series against the Jackals 2-1.

Chris Higgins wristed a puck past Jackals goaltender Garrett Zemlak off of an Elmira defensive-zone turnover at 2:19 of the first period to put Las Vegas up 1-0.

Eric Lampe tied the game, 1-1, at 5:48 of the first by knocking in a loose puck from the top of the crease.

Later in the period, Greg Collins finished off a three-on-two short-handed rush by beating Zemlak at 9:00 to make it 2-1, Las Vegas.

In the second period, Las Vegas exploded to take a 5-1 lead. Collins scored on a backdoor feed from Nick Ross on the power play at 1:31, Dan Bertram redirected a Jamie Fritsch shot past Zemlak at 5:01, while Tyler Mosienko jammed in a rebound at 9:00 to give the Wranglers the four-goal lead.

Michael Dubuc tipped in a centering pass from Justin Donati at 11:01 on the power play to bring Elmira to within three goals. Eric Lampe dangled through Ross with the Jackals short handed and backhanded a puck through the pads of Joe Fallon, the Wranglers' netminder, to make it 5-3 at 14:14.

In the third period, Fallon stopped all 13 Jackals shots and Higgins registered an empty-net goal at 19:19 to finish off the Jackals, 6-3.

Zemlak fell to 1-2 with the Jackals, making 18 saves. Fallon improved to 18-8-1-0 with a 28-save display.

The Jackals take on the Ontario Reign on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to finish off the road trip.

NOTE: Prior to Tuesday's game, Anaheim recalled goaltender Timo Pielmeier from Elmira.
