Edmonton Elks News Release

(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos selected defensive end (import) Anthony Collier with the club's first selection (8th overall) in today's CFL Dispersal Draft. Collier appeared in 13 games for Ottawa in the 2005 season, recording 21 tackles and was tied for third in the CFL with 12 sacks. Eskimo Head Coach Danny Maciocia says, "Anthony is constantly flying around and is always around the ball."

Edmonton used its second round selection to take non-import kicker Shaun Suisham who played in three games for the NFL's Dallas Cowboys last season. A native of Wallaceburg, Ontario, Suisham enjoyed an outstanding career at Bowling Green State University.

Slotback (non-import) Pat Woodcock was Edmonton's fourth round selection. Woodcock spent 3 seasons with the Montreal Alouettes before signing as a free agent with Ottawa for the 2004 and 2005 seasons. He was named Most Outstanding Canadian in the 2002 Grey Cup where he set a Grey Cup record by making a 99-yard touchdown reception during Montreal's win over Edmonton. Last season Woodcock had 28 receptions for 356 yards and three touchdowns. "Pat runs great routes and he's shown he's got the ability," says Maciocia.

The Eskimos also acquired defensive tackle (non-import) L.P. LaDouceur and defensive end (non-import) Israel Idonije. LaDouceur spent last season on the Dallas Cowboys' roster and Idonije played for the Chicago Bears.

Overall, Maciocia is very happy with the draft, "We got most of the players we wanted. I think it was a very productive day."
