Toronto Argonauts News Release

Mississauga - After selecting DL Marc Pilon with the 10th overall pick in the 2006 Dispersal Draft, the Argonauts selected five other players from the Ottawa roster including:

Round 3 - WR David Azzi, Ottawa

Round 4 - OL Sean Poole, Michigan State

Round 5 - RB Sean Bennett, Northwestern

Round 6 - WR Sean Riley, Western Michigan

Round 7 - WR Roderick Warren, Minnesota State Mankato

Toronto Argonauts VP, Football Operations/General Manager Adam Rita enthused, "I am ecstatic. I think we have addressed our needs and we are excited to have these players join our team."

Canadian receiver David Azzi was considered a jewel in the 2004 CFL Canadian Draft. The third overall selection, who attended the University of Ottawa, was a three-time OUA all-star who excelled as both a quarterback and a receiver. The all-around athlete attended Bowling Green University as a freshman before transferring to Ottawa. Azzi played in eight games as a rookie with the Renegades and, in 2005, he caught five passes for 67 yards and a touchdown.

David was happy to learn the Argos had drafted him, particularly as he lost his father, Naoum, last week following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Remarked Azzi on coming to Toronto, "I'm thrilled and excited. Everyone I know has been asking me where I wanted to go if I could go anywhere and my first pick was always Toronto and to play for Pinball. I'm a big fan of Coach Austin and I'm looking forward to playing for him. I've been training all off season and am looking forward to coming to Toronto and showing what I can do. It will be a great situation for me."

Import OL Sean Poole is a towering 6'7", 295 lbs. The Michigan State product was named first-team All-Big Ten in 2004 as a senior. A native of Flint, Michigan, Poole spent four seasons with the Spartans and was named first-team all-state while at Flint Michigan Central High School.

RB Sean Bennett is a seasoned football veteran. Originally taken by the New York Giants in the fourth round (112th overall) in the 1999 NFL Draft, Bennett experienced a 5-year NFL career with both the Giants and the New York Jets before joining the Renegades on March 3, 2004. He spent most of his rookie season in Ottawa on the practice roster before being activated in 2005. Bennett has 8 receptions for 150 yards and 1 touchdown.

WR Sean Riley has a wealth of experience playing professional football. A six-year veteran of the AFL and a former all-star, Riley experienced his best season of AFL football in 2000 when he made 96 catches for 1,339 yards and 27 touchdowns. Riley played college football at Western Michigan and his playing style has been compared to former Renegade WR Jason Armstead.

WR Roderick Warren is a track star turned football player who played college football at Yuba College and Minnesota State Mankato. Warren was an All-American track star in college who grew up Miami, Florida.

The Toronto Argonauts are North America's oldest professional football club, having celebrated their 130th anniversary in 2003. The Toronto Argonauts have 15 Grey Cup championships to their credit.
