ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...

Tonight, the SeaWolves look to snap a two-game slide as they take the field in the series opener against the Connecticut Defenders (San Francisco Giants) at Jerry Uht Park. The ‘Wolves are coming off of a series loss to New Britain with the Rock Cats winning the final two games of the series 8-3 and 11-4. It was only the second series loss for Erie following the all-star break. The club's record in series since the break is 5-2-1. Since the all-star break, the ‘Wolves are 19-10 and the team is in fourth place in the Southern Division, 16 games behind first Bowie. Erie is also 10-3 in the month of August. Erie is in a stretch of 12 straight games against Northern Division opponents. The SeaWolves and Defenders meet six times in a span of 10 days...The Defenders are in fourth place in the North, 10.5 games behind first place Trenton. The Defenders are 6-3 in their last nine games and are three games behind wild card leading Portland. Connecticut fell on Thursday 2-1 to Akron as they were unable to complete a sweep...Lefty Danny Christensen takes the mound for the SeaWolves, making his 24th start of the season. He picked up a win in his last outing at Reading and it was his first win since June 26 at Trenton. In the game, Christensen went six innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits with three walks and he tied a season-high with eight strikeouts...Lefty Paul Oseguera takes the mound for the Defenders, making his 16th appearance and eighth start. Oseguera is making his first start since June 17. His last eight outings have been in relief. In his last outing on August 10, Oseguera went two innings, allowing an unearned run on two hits with a walk and a strikeout.

- Wilkin Ramirez is tied for fourth in the league with 19 home runs; is fifth in the EL with a .313 average; is second in the league with a .551 slugging percentage and tied for third in the league with 23 stolen bases.
