ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...

Tonight, the SeaWolves look for a four-game series sweep as they take the field in the final game of a four-game set against the Akron Aeros (Cleveland Indians) at Jerry Uht Park. Yesterday, the Howlers jumped ahead 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning and went on for the club's ninth one-run victory of the season. Erie has now won six straight against the league's top club and are 6-0 against the Aeros at "The Uht"...The SeaWolves enter today's game in fourth place in the Southern Division, 6.5 games behind first place Akron, 1.5 games behind second place Reading and a half game behind third place Bowie...The SeaWolves are the top home team in the Eastern League with a 31-15 record and .673 home winning percentage. Erie has won six of its last seven home games...Erie is going for its seventh series sweep of the season. Erie's last series sweep was against the Aeros May 29-31...Seven of the 10 games in the season series against Akron have been decided by three runs or fewer...Erie is in a stretch of 19 games where they will face Akron 12 times and Binghamton seven times...The ‘Wolves are also in a stretch of 28 games with 20 being at home...Ryan Strieby has been named Eastern League Player of the Week for the week ending July 12. Strieby will miss his second straight game tonight due to left wrist soreness...The ‘Wolves are hitting .282 over their last 10 games. Strieby has been the hottest SeaWolf at the plate with a .412 batting average...Ron Bourquin has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games and is hitting .382 (13x34) with a home run and seven RBI over his last 10 games. Bourquin has three straight two-hit games to his credit.

TODAY'S NOTABLES -

- Erie leads the season series over Akron 8-2. The SeaWolves and Aeros meet 27 times in 2009. It is the most times Erie will face an opponent in 2009.

- Erie's pitching staff is sixth in the league with a 3.82 team ERA. Akron's pitching staff ranks second in the league with a 3.30 team ERA.

- Erie is fourth in the league with a .265 team batting average. Akron is 10th in the league with a .251 team batting average.

- The SeaWolves lead the league with 97 home runs and 449 runs scored.
