ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...

Tonight, the SeaWolves open up a six-game road trip and a three-game series at NYSEG Stadium against the Binghamton Mets (New York Mets). The 'Wolves are coming off of their most lopsided loss of the season last night against Trenton (10-1). Erie enters tonight's game in fourth place in the EL South, nine games behind first place Akron, 3.5 games behind second place Reading and 1.5 games behind third place Bowie...The 'Wolves are a perfect 5-for-5 in series against the Northern Division and have won 11 of 16 games against the North. Erie will play 41 games against the Northern Division in 2009...The B-Mets have dropped their last four games and were outscored in the final two games of a series against New Hampshire 22-4. The Mets are in last place in the Northern Division, 21 games under .500, 17 games out of first. Erie is in a stretch of 24 consecutive games against teams with sub-.500 records and seven straight games against the EL North...Alex Avila has been the hottest SeaWolf at the plate over the last 10 games. He is hitting .367 (11x30) with two home runs and 10 RBI. Avila had a three-game hitting streak snapped in last night's loss to Trenton...Righty Luis Marte takes the mound for the 'Wolves making his 15th start. He took a no-decision in his last outing against Harrisburg going seven innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits with a walk and four strikeouts. All four runs he gave up came on home runs. Marte leads the league with 15 home runs allowed. He is tied with teammate Jon Kibler with the fourth-most innings pitched in the league (88.1). Marte leads the 'Wolves with 71 strikeouts.
