
Hankins leads Curve to 1-0 win over Bowie

ALTOONA, PA - Derek Hankins had his best outing of the 2009 season as he and the Curve won a 1-0 ballgame over Bowie before a capacity crowd of 8,151 at Blair County Ballpark Saturday night.
Hankins (1-2) had his longest start of the season tossing 6.0 innings allowing no runs on three hits with four strikeouts. The Curve bullpen continued their strong performances of late with Dustin Molleken and Sean Smith combining for 3.0 scoreless innings of relief allowing just two hits and striking out three to complete the shutout. The Curve âpen now sports a 1.18 ERA over their last 10 games.
Miles Durham singled home Pedro Alvarez in the sixth inning for the only run of the ballgame. Both Durham and Alvarez finished the night 1-for-4. Gorkys Hernandez and Jason Delaney had multiple hit nights for the Curve. Hernandez went 2-for-4 with a double while Delaney had a 2-for-3 night at the plate.
Altoona (29-53) will be looking to build off of Saturday's win in the middle game of the three game series with Bowie (45-37) Sunday night. Sunday's probable starters are RHP Mike Crotta (4-3, 5.11) for Altoona and RHP Radhames Liz (2-1, 4.50) for Bowie. First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. with radio coverage beginning at 5:35 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network.
Following Sunday's game fans will be treating to a spectacular fireworks display and kids can run the bases. Great seats are still available for Sunday and all remaining games in the homestand.
