Hottovy joins Portland

July 4, 2009 - Eastern League (EL1)
Portland Sea Dogs News Release

(Portland, Maine) - Earlier today, LHP Tommy Hottovy was assigned to the Portland Sea Dogs from Single-A Lowell and will be available in tonight's game against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at Merchantsauto.com Stadium. To make room for Hottovy on the roster, RHP Adam Mills was assigned to Single-A Lowell.

Hottovy was 1-0, 2.25 ERA (2 ER/8 IP) in 5 relief appearances with the Spinners (New York-Penn League) this season. The Kansas City native picked up his lone win on June 19 vs. Vermont (first outing) and has recorded 12 strikeouts on the season. Hottovy was limited to just two appearances with the Sea Dogs in 2008, going 1-0, 5.00 ERA (5 ER/9 IP). In 2007, he went 4-7 with a 4.45 ERA in 23 starts but missed a month of the season (July 5-August 4) due to forearm soreness. During Portland's Eastern League Championship season in 2006, Hottovy went 2-4, 4.17 ERA (19 ER/41 IP) in 7 starts with the Sea Dogs.

Mills was the winning pitcher in game one of last night's doubleheader against the New Britain Rock Cats at Hadlock Field. The righty improved to 3-5 on the season and has won back-to-back decisions.

The Portland Sea Dogs begin a 3-game series in New Hampshire on Saturday night beginning at 7:05 PM from Merchantsauto.com Stadium. Portland returns to Hadlock Field on Tuesday, July 7th at 7:00 PM to open up a 7-game homestand against the Binghamton Mets. Tickets are available for most 2009 Sea Dogs' home games. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Sea Dogs Ticket Office at 207-879-9500 or online at www.seadogs.com.
