ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...

Today, the SeaWolves look to win their second series of the season as they take the field in the final game of a four-game series against the Altoona Curve (Pittsburgh Pirates) at Blair County Ballpark. The Howlers fell last night to the Curve, 7-5, giving Altoona its first win of the '09 campaign. The 'Wolves plated three runs in the top of the eighth inning to close the Altoona lead to a run but they could not complete a comeback. Altoona was the last team in all of the minor leagues to pick up a victory. Despite the loss, Erie remains in a second place tie in the Southern Division with Reading, 1.5 games behind first place Akron...Righty Jonah Nickerson takes the hill for the 'Wolves, making his third start of the season and second against the Curve. Nickerson took a no-decision on Opening Day against Altoona going four innings, allowing four runs on eight hits. He took a loss in his last outing against Bowie...Erie will get its second look at lefty Daniel Moskos. Moskos made a relief appearance against Erie on April 9 going one inning, giving up a run on two hits with a strikeout. Moskos made his first start against Akron on April 13. In the game, he went 3.1 innings, allowing four runs on six hits with five walks and a strikeout and he took a no-decision...The SeaWolves will continue the seven-game road trip on Monday as the club heads to Prince George's Stadium for the first time to take on Bowie. The Baysox swept the 'Wolves last week at Jerry Uht Park.

TODAY'S NOTABLES -

- 11 of the 24 players on Erie's roster are featured among the Top 30 prospects in the Tigers organization according to Baseball America.

- Erie will see just two different opponents (Altoona and Bowie) in the first two weeks of the season. (8 vs. Altoona and 6 vs. Bowie).

- Erie leads the season series over Altoona 6-1. The 'Wolves and Curve meet 25 times in 2009.

- Erie's pitching staff ranks seventh in the league with a 3.64 ERA. Altoona's pitching staff ranks last in the league with a 4.68 team ERA.

- Mike Hollimon is listed as day-to-day after crashing into the wall down the left field line in Tuesday night's game.

- Erie's offense ranks ninth in the EL with a .238 team batting average. Altoona is ranked 10th with a .229 team average.

- Scott Sizemore ranks seventh in the league with a .385 batting average. Sizemore is in a four-way tie for the league lead with two triples.

- The five runs Erie plated in last night's game was the most since the second game of the season when they scored 10 against the Curve. Erie had gone seven games scoring three runs or fewer.
