Erie SeaWolves News Release
(Erie, PA) - The Erie SeaWolves, Double-A Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, and BUSH'S Beans are working together with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania to "Team Up Against Hunger." In its second year, the program encourages fans to bring non-perishable food donations to UPMC Park. Any fan who donates three or more non-perishable food items will receive two complimentary tickets to the SeaWolves game on July 24 (limit two tickets per person).
90 Minor League Baseball clubs across the country will "Team Up Against Hunger" throughout the month of July. The month is significant as it marks the middle of summer break and a crucial time when millions of children are not receiving free or reduced-price meals at their schools as they do when school is in session.
"We are honored to partner with BUSH'S Beans and the Second Harvest Food Bank of NWPA to bring the issue of hunger to light," SeaWolves team President Greg Coleman said. "This is a great way to bring the community together to show that we are united in the fight against hunger in our hometown."
"As a family-owned food company, it is important to everyone at BUSH'S to help hungry families," Mike Morris, a consumer experience manager at Bush Brothers & Co. said. "Working with Minor League Baseball and communities nationwide helps bring attention and action to a very important topic - beating hunger."
Fans can drop off non-perishable food items at the UPMC Park Advance Ticket Window during the team's games on Sunday, July 15 and Monday, July 23. Fan can also drop off items Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the UPMC Park Ticket Office from now through July 23. To find a complete list of items most needed by the food bank, visit nwpafoodbank.org.
The SeaWolves wrap up a series against the Altoona Curve on Sunday, July 15 at 1:35 p.m. at UPMC Park. For tickets, visit the UPMC Park ticket office or purchase online at SeaWolves.com.
