Curve Close Road Trip with 7-1 Loss in Erie

ERIE, Pa. - The Curve fell behind early and lost to the Erie SeaWolves, 7-1, on Sunday afternoon at UPMC Park.

The Curve (48-41) won three of the five games in the series against the SeaWolves (43-49) to open play out of the all-star break.

The Curve scored their lone run on a solo homer by Logan Ratledge, his second of the season, in the sixth inning. In the bottom of the inning, Ratledge took over on the mound for the Curve.

The knuckleball-throwing infielder worked through three innings on the mound in his third pitching appearance of the season, allowing one run with three strikeouts. His ERA for the season is now 2.08.

Daz Cameron hit a solo homer for the SeaWolves in the first inning to open the scoring against Pedro Vasquez (Loss, 2-6). The SeaWolves added two more runs against Vasquez in the second inning before he was removed with one out.

The outing marked the fourth straight game in which the Curve's starting pitcher has worked four innings or less.

Logan Sendelbach entered in the second and allowed two runs as the SeaWolves opened a 6-0 lead, but he returned to throw a scoreless third. The runs snapped a 10.2-inning scoreless streak for Sendelbach, spanning six straight outings without allowing a run.

Yeudy Garcia picked up two strikeouts while working through two scoreless, hitless innings out of the Curve bullpen.

Erie starter Beau Burrows (Win, 7-6) did not allow a hit until the fifth inning and finished his outing with nine strikeouts and one run allowed over seven innings.

The SeaWolves opened the lead to 7-1 with a sacrifice fly by Danny Woodrow.

The Curve open a three-game series against the Bowie Baysox at home on Monday night. Left-hander Taylor Hearn (3-5, 3.35) will start on the mound for Altoona, opposed by Bowie left-hander Luis Ysla (5-3, 5.02). First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
