Hartford Yard Goats News Release
Harrisburg, PA - Yard Goats catcher Dom Nunez drove in two of Hartford's three runs and starting pitcher Rico Garcia allowed just a pair of runs in seven innings as the Yard Goats beat the Harrisburg Senators 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at FNB Field in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Nunez tied the game with a solo homer in the sixth inning and put the Yard Goats ahead with an RBI single in the 8th as Hartford won for the second straight day. It was the fourth consecutive one run game and the Yard Goats final contest of a four game road trip in City Island.
The Yard Goats scored the first run of the game for the fourth straight time in Harrisburg. Scott Burcham led off the third inning with a double and then scored on a two out single by Yonathan Daza against Harrisburg starter Sterling Sharp.
The Senators tied the game in the fourth inning as first baseman Austin Davidson connected on his eighth home run, a solo shot over the right field bullpen off Hartford starter Rico Garcia. Harrisburg took a 2-1 lead the next inning as Jake Noll beat out an infield single allowing Hunter Jones to cross the plate with the go-ahead run.
The Yard Goats tied the game 2-2 in the top of the sixth inning as Dom Nunez homered to right field, his seventh homer of the season. The solo blast came with out and was his first since June 26th.
Hartford broke the tie in the eighth inning off reliever Jordan Mills. Omar Carrizales started the frame with a double. Then with one-out, Dom Nunez ripped a single to centerfield scoring Carrizales and giving the Yard Goats a 3-2 edge.
Yard Goats starter Rico Garcia was solid in seven innings (7H 2R 2ER 2BB 3K) and handed the bullpen a 3-2 lead. Rayan Gonzalez, Parker French and Scott Griggs worked the final two innings as the Yard Goats earned a series split.
