Toronto Argonauts News Release

Toronto, ON – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club would like to congratulate Defensive End Eric England for earning CFL Lineman of the Month honours. During the month of August, England accumulated 15 defensive tackles and 1 quarterback sack, and was named as runner-up for the CFL's Lineman of the Week three times.

The 2003 CFL All-Star anchors a line that has 16 sacks on the season and is part of a defence that has limited its opponents to an average of 14.9 points per game. This is the second time in his career that England has been honoured as the League's Lineman of the Month; he was last honoured in October of 2003.

Player of the Month Judge, Bob Krause, had this to say about the decorated rush end: "England is tenacious and exuberant. The quarterbacks are always looking for him, as he forces them to hurry passes or scramble into the arms of his team mates. His steady play resulted in him being selected three times as a player of the week runner-up for August."

England is the second Argonaut to be honoured as Player of the Month in 2004. Bashir Levingston was named as Special Teams Player of the Month for June/July.

The Toronto Argonauts are North America's oldest professional football club, having celebrated their 130th anniversary in 2003. The Toronto Argonauts have 14 Grey Cup championships to their credit.
