Calgary Stampeders News Release
(Calgary) - The Calgary Stampeder coaches and player wives & girlfriends will host their 14th Annual Inter-Faith Foodbank Drive at the Labour Day Game, "Be a Fan, Bring a Can". Drop off locations for any non-perishable food items or cash donations will be located at every entrance to McMahon Stadium on Labour Day.
During 2003, the Calgary Food Bank assisted approximately 15,000 people through their hamper program. The agency distributes food to a additional 60,000 people per month at places such as the Mustard Seed, CUPS and Drop-In Center. Last season marked the 13th year for the Stampeders Coaches' and Players Wives Annual Food Bank drive. It attracted one of the largest donations in the history of the drive, collecting $27,734 in cash and food donations. This boosted the twelve year total over $247,734 in cash and food donations.
The Foodbank is in need for as much canned food as possible. This is a very critical time for the Foodbank in Calgary as we enter the fall months leading into Thanksgiving.
The Calgary Stampeders will face the Edmonton Eskimos in the 42nd annual LABOUR DAY CLASSIC on Monday, September 6th with a 1:30 pm kickoff.
Last season the Stampeders beat the Eskimos in an entertaining 28-22 victory, breaking a four game winning streak.
