Ottawa Renegades News Release

OTTAWA – Ottawa Renegades receiver Pat Woodcock will be a late scratch from the Renegades line-up for Ottawa's home game Friday night, September 3 against the Montreal Alouettes (Frank Clair Stadium, 7:30 p.m.).

Woodcock, a Kanata native, suffered an eye injury during a routine play in the Renegades' short, walk-through practice on Thursday morning. Initially, in the immediate moments following practice, it appeared as if Woodcock would be fine for Friday's game after a football appeared to have hit the side of his face. After closer observation, however, Woodcock will be out and replacing him will be veteran Renegades receiver Aubrey Cummings.

"We decided to use caution and we are going to sit Pat out," says Renegades head coach Joe Paopao. "We're sitting him just to be on the safe side. But he's already doing better and taken some medication and eye drops so he'll be fine very soon."

The injury Thursday morning, around 10:25 a.m. – hours after the team was required to submit the game-day roster to the league, the Renegades petitioned the CFL to allow Cummings to be activated from the practice roster due to the nature and timing of the injury.

Cummings will see game action for the first time this season on Friday night against the Alouettes.

Woodcock has regained his vision and his status continues to improve. He will be re-evaluated by doctors and trainers in the coming days and his status is listed as day-to-day. The medical staff believes Pat will have a full recovery very soon.

The Renegades are in action this Friday night at 7:30 p.m. when they host the Montreal Alouettes at Frank Clair Stadium. Tickets are still available and can be purchased online at http://www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 613-755-1166.
