Iowa Wolves News Release

NEW YORK, Mar. 4, 2011 - The San Antonio Spurs signed guard Othyus Jeffers of the Iowa Energy for the 11th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2010-11 NBA Development League season. Jeffers' call-up increases the number of current NBA players with NBA D-League experience, including players currently on assignment to their NBA D-League affiliates, to 85.

Jeffers (6-5, 200) has started 36 of 37 games with Iowa this season, leading the Energy to an East Conference-leading 30-10 record. An NBA D-League All-Star, Jeffers ranks among the league leaders in points (21.1 ppg, 2nd), rebounds (9.0 rpg, 7th) and steals (1.9 spg, 4th). Jeffers has scored in double figures in every game this season, and was twice selected as NBA D-League Performer of the Week.

The 2009 NBA D-League Rookie of the Year, Jeffers earned a GATORADE Call-Up to the Utah Jazz last season. He played 14 regular season games with Utah, averaging 2.6 points and 1.4 rebounds in 5.1 minutes. He also appeared in six playoff games with the Jazz.

A Chicago native, Jeffers played two collegiate seasons at Illinois-Chicago, where he was an All-Horizon League First-Team player in 2007. He transferred to Robert Morris (Ill.) for his senior season, averaging 24.0 points, 11.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 33 games. He earned numerous NAIA All-American First Team selections in 2008, and was named the NAIA Player of the Year by Sporting News and Basketball Times.

Jeffers is expected to join the Spurs today, and should be available when they host the Miami Heat tonight at 9:30 p.m. ET.

The Energy host Idaho on Sunday at 4pm. That game is the annual Faith & Family Night and includes a post-game concert by Aaron Shust. Tickets are available at www.IowaNBA.com or by calling 564-8550.
